Position Summary
This is a full-time faculty position in sleep medicine. The rank and promotion track will be commensurate with the applicant's experience.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a medical degree or its foreign equivalent, three years of Internal Medicine residency training, and one year of Sleep fellowship training, completed in the United States. Pulmonary & Critical Care fellowship training is preferred but not required. A valid Illinois medical license or eligibility for one is required. Individuals who do not meet these minimum qualifications will not be considered for this position.
Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities
In this position, the incumbent will perform patient care on a full-time basis, no less than 40 hours per week, treating patients at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System and serving a medically underserved and diverse patient population. This will include six half-day adult sleep medicine clinics and the interpretation of sleep studies generated by the clinics. Additional clinical and scholarly opportunities may be considered based on the candidate’s training and interest. The incumbent will assist the Department in teaching, training, and advising medical students, residents, and fellows in Internal Medicine, Sleep Medicine, and Pulmonary & Critical Care. The candidate is expected to conduct medical science or medical education research under mentorship in Internal Medicine, Sleep Medicine, or Pulmonary & Critical Care. The candidate will also assist with curriculum development and perform university duties and administrative services as assigned. These areas are essential to any academic medicine program and are integral to medical student teaching and resident/fellow training.
