FACULTY MEMBER, PULMONARY AND CRITICAL CARE MEDICINE
The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Albany Medical College is seeking an Interventional Pulmonologist faculty member to join its dynamic and growing Division. The Division is responsible for an outpatient office, inpatient consults and a closed Medical Intensive Care Unit in addition to a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship training program. The Division has unique faculty expertise in thoracic/critical care ultrasound, cystic fibrosis, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, COPD, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, sleep medicine, and interventional pulmonology and rare lung diseases.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree
- Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship trained and AABIP board certified or eligible
- Experience with procedures such as EBUS, navigational bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, airway stenting, and management of complex airway disease
- Interest in an academic medical center environment, including education, research, and/or quality improvement
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients with complex pulmonary and airway disorders.
- Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures, including:
- Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
- Navigational bronchoscopy
- Robotic bronchoscopy
- Rigid bronchoscopy
- Airway stenting
- Tumor debulking and ablation
- Management of central airway obstruction
- Bronchoscopic evaluation of pulmonary nodules and masses
- Evaluate and manage patients with complex pleural disease, including pleural effusions, pneumothorax, and malignant pleural disease.
- Perform advanced pleural procedures, such as thoracentesis, chest tube placement, indwelling pleural catheter placement, and medical thoracoscopy, as appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other multidisciplinary teams.
- Educate and mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and advanced practice providers.
