Description
Licensed Massage Therapist — Medical MLD & Neuromuscular Specialist
Atlanta Body Retreat, LLC Marietta, GA (Kennestone Hospital area)
Winner, Atlanta's Best Alternative Medicine 2025 Georgia Business Journal & City of Marietta award recipient
This is not a spa job. This is the medical massage therapy room where results happen.
Atlanta Body Retreat is Marietta's premier medical massage practice, specializing in post-surgical Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Our patients arrive days out from major procedures — swollen, anxious, and trusting us with the outcome they spent a great deal of money and courage to pursue.
Their surgeon is the sculptor.
We are the kiln.
Our founder, Sloane Warren, has spent 26 years building this practice and developing The Warren Method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage™ — an evidence-informed system blending Vodder and Lerner lineage MLD with Gua Sha, Tui Na, cupping, and light therapy for maximum inflammation and bruising reduction. That method is now in demand beyond Georgia, and she will soon be traveling to teach it.
Which is exactly why we're hiring.
We are looking for one exceptional therapist — not a body to fill a mindless spa job. Someone who will learn this method from its creator, take genuine ownership of this space and this mission, and help carry the practice to its next level of care while Sloane is on the road teaching. This is a rare seat. The person who takes it will be trained in a proprietary methodology by the person who built it. Must dedicate time practicing it under her instruction which will take time and patience, but you will be compensated with advanced CEU's that will fulfill a cycle of Georgia Requirements. Saving you thousands of dollars.
What you'll actually do
Deliver advanced post-surgical MLD to patients in active recovery — the work that determines whether someone's results are excellent or merely acceptable
Apply cupping and neuromuscular therapy for our sports injury, chronic pain, and scar tissue patients
Vet every prospective patient properly. We are medical, not recreational. You'll assess contraindications, set honest expectations, and have the integrity to say "we're not the right fit for that" when it's true
Write clean, thorough SOAP notes on every single patient. Non-negotiable. Our documentation is part of our clinical credibility
Build relationships with surgical practices. You'll write organized, professional outreach emails to plastic surgery and reconstructive practices across metro Atlanta and help grow the referral pipeline that feeds this business
Keep the space immaculate and the bookkeeping and scheduling tight
Grow into a leadership role as the practice expands and the owner's teaching schedule increases
Who we're looking for:
Required
Current post-surgical Manual Lymphatic Drainage certification. This is a hard requirement — we will not consider applicants without it. You'll be trained in The Warren Method, but you must already have a legitimate MLD foundation to build on
Active Georgia massage therapy license, in good standing
Current professional liability insurance
Minimum 3 years working in the industry
Demonstrated proficiency in cupping and neuromuscular therapy
Residence within an easy, reliable commute of the Kennestone Hospital area in Marietta — this is a relationship-based practice and consistency matters
Comfort working with post-operative patients, drains, compression garments, and bodies mid-healing
Strongly preferred
Vodder- or Lerner-lineage MLD training
Experience in a clinical or medically adjacent setting, if you happen to also be a nurse or medical background that is helpful but not a deal breaker.
Our patient population is predominantly female, in post-surgical recovery, and fully disrobed during treatment. Patient privacy and comfort considerations apply to this role.
The part most postings won't tell you
We hold a Ritz-Carlton standard here. That means:
You are warm, upbeat, and genuinely fun to be around. Patients walk in nervous and uncomfortable. Your energy should put them at ease within thirty seconds.
And you understand the difference between warm and chatty. The table is the patient's hour, not yours. We are not looking for someone who fills silence with stories about their weekend, their ex, or their landlord. Discretion is a clinical skill.
Your communication with the owner is as polished as your communication with patients. Clear, proactive, professional, no dropped balls. If something needs to be handled, you say so. If something went sideways, you say so early.
You take ownership. You notice the linen is low before we run out. You follow up on the referral email you sent. You treat this practice like it's partly yours — because functionally, it's about to be.
Compensation & growth
Based on experience — and designed to grow as you do. We're candid about this: we're not posting a flat number because the right candidate with strong credentials and a real work ethic will be compensated accordingly, and their compensation will rise as the practice expands and their responsibilities deepen.
What we're offering beyond pay is harder to find: direct training in a proprietary, award-winning methodology from its founder; a patient base that already exists and is growing; a practice with real community standing; and a genuine path into leadership as the owner transitions toward teaching.
To apply
Send your résumé, your license, insurance, and MLD certification information, and a short note telling us about the most challenging post-surgical patient you've worked with and how you handled it through the contact form at atlbodyretreat.com or call (404) 271-7247.
Please, no walk-ins. We're with patients.
