Description
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is seeking a pioneering and compassionate Cardio-Oncologist to join our nationally recognized Cardiovascular Institute. As we accelerate our transition toward a comprehensive "Institute" model of care, this role is vital in protecting the heart health of patients undergoing life-saving cancer treatments.
The successful candidate will lead the integration of cardiac care within the oncology journey, serving as a dedicated expert across our network of 6 hospitals and 12 clinics. We are looking for a collaborative physician-leader who balances high-level clinical surveillance with the Methodist mission of patient-centered excellence in the Mid-South.
Key Responsibilities
- Cardiotoxicity Management: Provide expert consultation for patients receiving potentially cardiotoxic therapies, including Anthracyclines, HER2-targeted agents, and Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICIs).
- Advanced Surveillance: Lead the implementation of advanced imaging protocols, including global longitudinal strain (GLS) echocardiography and cardiac biomarkers, to detect subclinical myocardial injury.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with a robust team of 38 doctors and 35 APPs, as well as our oncology partners, to develop individualized "Heart-Healthy Recovery" plans that minimize treatment interruptions.
- Program Development: Drive the strategic growth of specialized cardio-oncology pathways within our centralized clinic model, contributing to the broader evolution of the Cardiovascular Institute.
- Survivorship Leadership: Manage long-term cardiovascular risks for cancer survivors, including radiation-induced heart disease and chemotherapy-related heart failure.
Qualifications
- Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Training: Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship. Advanced training or significant experience in Cardio-Oncology is highly preferred.
- Certification: Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease; Board Eligibility/Certification in Advanced Echocardiography or specialized Cardio-Oncology certification is a plus.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of the cardiovascular side effects of modern oncology therapeutics and proficiency in advanced cardiac imaging.
