The Department of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine seeks to recruit a senior neurologist at the rank of Associate Professor/ Professor to serve as the vice chair for ambulatory operations. Rank will be based on education and experience.
The vice chair for ambulatory operations (VCAO) coordinates all ambulatory clinical activities in collaboration with division chiefs and regional practice medical directors across the Yale Medicine/ Yale-New Haven Health System enterprise. In collaboration with the vice chair for clinical affairs the VCAO will create and maintain a continuum of care between the seven system hospitals including Adams Neuroscience Center, a state-of-the-art hospital dedicated to the most advanced patient-centered care for patients afflicted with disorders of the nervous system. The VCAO oversees the delivery of ambulatory clinical care of the highest quality and ensures compliance with all policies and procedures promulgated by the university, medical school, department, hospital, and external regulatory agencies. Key ambulatory staff members (nursing manager, practice manager, etc.) report to the VCAO. The VCAO evaluates and establishes clinical productivity standards for all clinical faculty within the ambulatory practice and works with the leadership to establish the infrastructure to support integration of clinical and translational research throughout the ambulatory network. The VCAO supports the chair in collaboration with other senior department leadership in faculty recruitment and operational growth.
We anticipate faculty applicants to be dedicated to excellence in patient care and team leadership, highest quality and safety standards, as well as education of the next generation of neurologists. The position offers applicants an exciting opportunity for individual programmatic development and goal discovery across varied clinical or academic interests within our department. Additional leadership positions may be available depending on the candidate’s qualifications.
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, be board certified in Neurology, and eligible for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut.
The VCAO will join the ladder faculty at Yale School of Medicine and a team of general and subspecialty-trained neurologists delivering advanced care using a patient-centered multidisciplinary approach. The clinical team reviews its experience and discusses challenging cases in weekly conferences and seminars and refines its approach through shared quality and safety endeavors.
