Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 02/02/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, flexible Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least two years of Level 3 L&D experience and current BLS and NRP certifications. Responsibilities Work in a hospital setting on a Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED triage beds, and 4 antepartum rooms Patient population includes high- and low-risk pregnant patients, antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and newborns Patient ratios are 1:3 antepartum, 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, and 1:3 couplets postpartum Care responsibilities include managing high acuity labor patients and providing couplet care 12-hour variable shifts with both day and night shifts required throughout the contract Weekend rotation every other weekend No call required Holiday coverage as needed Uses Epic EMR system Scrub color is cobalt blue and is provided by the hospital Will be required to work in postpartum/couplet care in addition to Labor & Delivery throughout the contract Orientation includes four days preceptorship: three in Labor & Delivery and one in postpartum Support includes a unit secretary, scrub tech, charge nurse, VAT team, respiratory therapy, OB physician team, and anesthesia/CRNA available 24/7 Free parking is available Applicants must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration First-time travelers are accepted Time off must be approved by the manager Requirements Active SD or compact RN license Minimum two years recent Level 3 or above Labor & Delivery experience required Current BLS and NRP certifications required Preferred: ACLS, certification in inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum Experience with Epic EMR preferred Competency in high acuity labor management including preeclampsia, preterm labor and delivery, and care for antepartum patients under 35 weeks gestation Must be able to perform IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate and insulin administration, blood administration, and C-section circulation and recovery Completion of an approved nursing education program Experience with Level 2 nursery babies highly preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-657928.
