The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is seeking applications for one full-time faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), Associate Professor (WOT) or Professor (WOT). Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30). Associate Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July-June). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Title, salary and rank is commensurate with applicant’s training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in Fall 2026.
This position will be based at UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus and Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC) and will have primary responsibility for providing surgical services in Surgical Oncology, especially related to peritoneal malignancy including Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemoperfusion (HIPEC) and for the surgical treatment of sarcomas. UW Medicine surgeons are expected to develop an area of scholarly expertise, as expected of every faculty member, in consultation with the Division and Section Chief. The UW Medical Center is a nationally recognized academic medical center offering outstanding specialty and primary care. UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
In addition to clinical practice, the positions will participate in the education of surgical residents, medical students, and division fellows. The positions will be expected to develop an area of scholarly expertise, as expected of every faculty member, in consultation with the Division and Section Chiefs.
At the rank of Assistant Professor (WOT) the base salary for this position will be $30,417-$32,500 per month ($365,004-$390,000 per year). At the rank of Associate Professor (WOT) the base salary range for this position will be $34,167-$37,500 per month ($410,004-$450,000 per year). At the rank of Professor (WOT) the base salary range for this position will be $37,500-$42,084 per month ($450,000-$505,008 per year). Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the University of Washington Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position includes clinical productivity incentives through UWP. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in university benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
- Requirements for this position include:
- MD degree (or foreign equivalent)
- Board eligibility (or foreign equivalent) by the American Board of Surgery, inclusive of completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE)
- Successful completion of Complex General Surgical Oncology or equivalent fellowship
- Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington
- Applicants must hold U.S. permanent residence or U.S. citizenship
