Requirements
- Current board certification in one of the following disciplines:
- PA-C (Physician Assistant-Certified)
- AGACNP (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
- ACNPC or ACNPC-AG (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
- Minimum of 1-2 years of post-graduate experience in an inpatient neurology or hospital-based setting (stroke or neurological disorders experience preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- State of Michigan License
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skill
Duties & Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Perform neurological assessments, obtain patient histories, and conduct physical examinations
- Manage patients with acute neurological conditions in collaboration with the Neurohospitalist team
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests such as imaging and laboratory studies Respond to Code Stroke alerts and assist with time-sensitive interventions
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
- Document patient care in the EMR (Epic) accurately and timely
- Work closely other interdisciplinary care teams to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in quality initiatives and protocol-driven care for stroke and neurological disorders
